It is a great honor to invite you to attend the International Postgraduate Symposium in Tourism and Hospitality, to be held online on 20th-21st November, 2020.
Co-hosted by the International Master’s Program of Tourism and Hospitality (IMTH) of National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism (NKUHT) and UCSI University (Sarawak Campus), Malaysia, the symposium theme is Tourism Restart and Recovery: Responsibility Today, Sustainability Tomorrow. It is aimed to provide an avenue for postgraduate students from all over the world to share, present, and exchange their research works related to tourism and hospitality.
IMTH embraces NKUHT’s motto of humanity, professionalism, entrepreneurship, and internationalization and delivers its courses through integrating content and language by adopting a CLIL approach to empower our graduates with proficient language skills and professional domain knowledge that helps equip them for future employability and global mobility. We believe this Symposium will provide a wonderful platform for students and academics to share ideas and support each other during this special year due to the COVID-19 pandemic’s devastating impacts on the hospitality and tourism industry.
We look forward to your participation and hope you will enjoy the International Postgraduate Symposium in Tourism and Hospitality.

We are delighted to invite you to the International Postgraduate Symposium in Tourism and Hospitality 2020 (IPSTH 2020) which is co-organised by the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, UCSI University Sarawak Campus, Malaysia and the International Master’s Program of Tourism and Hospitality of the National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism, Taiwan. IPSTH 2020 is also supported by the Sarawak Research Society and Emerald Publishing (East Asia).
UCSI University is a leading Malaysian institution of higher learning which has been ranked at 391 in the QS World University Rankings 2021 placing it in the top 1.3% of all universities in the world. The Sarawak campus is located in Sarawak on the island of Borneo, the third largest island in the world known for its rich biodiversity and unique natural heritage. This symposium, to be held virtually on 21st November 2020, is the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management’s inaugural postgraduate symposium. It carries the apt theme of ‘Tourism Restart and Recovery: Responsibility Today, Sustainability Tomorrow. Without a doubt the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on travel and tourism has shaken the industry to its very core. It is the prerogative of all postgraduate students of the industry to rethink their research to suit with the current circumstances. You will also hear from our distinguished expert speakers and in the students’ presentations on their thoughts on the new realities of tourism.
The symposium will feature a pre-symposium workshop, 3MT and 5MT presentations challenging postgraduate students to present a condensed form of their research within a given time and also offer students publication opportunities in SSCI and SCOPUS indexed journals. Despite doing it online, I am sure the symposium will be a great platform for postgraduate students, academics, researchers and practitioners to network, learn and build collaboration to advance tourism and hospitality knowledge and realize tourism restart and recovery in a sustainable way.
We certainly look forward to your participation and contributions and for all participants to discover new thoughts and ideas as the world prepares to reopen tourism. Wishing for a successful and productive symposium!
